Hillcrest Kids

“We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and the wonders he has done.” Psalm 78:4

  • Nursery

The nursery is available for children from birth to age two.  Infants may be brought to the nursery ten minutes before worship services on Sundays or ten minutes before class time on Wednesday evenings where they will be well-cared for and taught about Bible lessons through activities and songs.

The children in the Nursery have Bible class during the Bible class hour. Volunteers teach from the Bible Time curriculum written by Karyn Henley. Using this curriculum, infants and toddlers learn about God’s creation and love for his children.

  • Toddlers (ages 2 & 3)

Journey Land is the curriculum used to teach children stories about God’s love for his people from the Old Testament. They learn through hands-on activities and play.

Children attend Bible class after Worship on Sunday mornings and at 7:00 PM on Wednesday nights. Two year olds attend class in the Nursery. Three year olds attend a blended class with pre-school children.

  • Pre-school (ages 3 & 4)

Journey Land is the curriculum used to teach children. Children learn about God’s love for his people through stories from the Old and New Testaments. They learn through hands-on activities and play.

Children attend bible class on Sunday mornings and at 7:00 PM on Wednesday nights.

  • K-5 Sunday Mornings

Journey Land is the curriculum used for Kindergarten through Grade 5 on Sunday mornings. Children are taught Bible stories/concepts through actively engaging workshops (classrooms). Various learning modalities enable all students to learn and grow in their knowledge about God, his love and his people through creative instruction.  Children rotate through different workshops each week designed to reinforce biblical principles: storytelling, games, music, geography, drama/theater and art/creativity.

  • K-5 Wednesday Nights

The Hyfi curriculum is used on Wednesday nights. Children learn 12 biblical truths through activities and media presentations. The lessons are designed in a way that enables them to understand their true identity in Christ. Additionally, the curriculum is intended to encourage students to connect with friends, feel part of a group as they learn about Jesus’ love for them.

Do you have a heart for service, and love working with children? We are always in need of volunteers to teach bible class and help greet our littles on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
